The Calcutec, The Librarian and the Iridescent Light

The Calcutec walks at a quick pace down the wide sidewalk while looking up at the sky at the towering buildings with the gleaming, reflective windows. The smile on his face is as broad as the sun glinting off the silver light post. He thinks to himself that he has never felt so free and unhindered. Meeting with The Librarian on such a gorgeous, perfect day will just add to the crazy feeling of effervescent bliss that expands from his solar plexus and seemingly glows outward from his body.

Pulling his over-sized but warm coat tighter around his body, the Dreamreader made his way from his minimal apartment into Town, towards the Library, struggling to negotiate through mounds of snow that had fallen earlier in the day. The boots, given to him by the Colonel, roomy enough for two or even three pair of socks, were loose. If only The Dreamreader had thought to put on another pair.

Colored by hand using Prismacolor Paint Markers, as well as Sharpies.

The idea is a retro kitchen using deco-pink to paint the appliances. I do remember seeing some pink appliances in the 1950s! By the time I got married Avocado Green was the "in" color and looking back it certainly was nasty. Of course, everyone and everything in the 1970s looked bad! I printed the lineart on a heavy stock but still had some issues with color bleed. Am glad to get a picture of it and posted as it took me working on and off days to color this. I am dang slow, that is for sure.

When I first saw the line art it reminded me of the kitchens with aluminum cabinets, the pink and black tiled-backsplash and the pink appliances. I just had go retro with it!
