Such Wonderful Pets by WDWParksGal Such Wonderful Pets by WDWParksGal

For the one-stock challenge at #ManipulateThis

The challenge was to use the same stock background that everyone was using and create a new manipulation from it! The theme is her exotic pets, from the dragons, to the kitty to the lion statue in the yard by the castle.

Non-Competitive Entry.

Stock Uses:
Required Background Stock:
The Two Dragon Stocks:
The Lion Statue (near the castle):
The model:
The Stained-Glass Windows:
(Special texture I made just to use for this deviation ~ it is in my scraps on my stock site ~ to see the windows better, download the deviation)
The Kitty and the Autumn Leaves are clip-arts posted on my stock site. Both were redone and enhanced for this project, so I replaced those files.

Brushes
Clouds by ~Wearwolfaa
Birds by *redheadstock
I used enhancements, filters, effects, saturation, lighting, darkening and hue adjustments to bring out the clouds already in the photo, but I added a few more for depth.
The birds are very light and high up in the sky, but I added them since it would be unusual to not have a few birds in the sky!

Wouldn't it nice? Imagine having a dragon large enough to ride! She can get her own food and you can save on gasoline for the car!

 the idea! The prices for gasoline are ridiculous... :faint:

When the price of crude dropped into the seventy-dollar range I thought, Oh, gas will go down below $3!! That was a no. The other day it was still $3.50 here

You've certainly created a sprawling fantasy world, replete with World of Warcraft - worthy scenery! I enjoy the extra meaning give by the title, suggesting that these ominous dragons are actually loveable pets. It brings to mind a reptile exhibit I recently saw, in which even the carnivorous crocodile was oddly endearing. The only thing I'd consider revising is the inconsistent tone of the piece. Overall it feels warm and peaceful, like an overcast autumn day, but that mood is at odds with the purplish cast in the center of the sky and on the largest dragon. Overall, it's an entrancing, immersive piece!

Thank you so much, especially for the critique. I was trying to give the impression of a sun just setting... and the purplish cast came out when using a variety of filters and effects. I could probably subdue the color with a reddish/orange overlay to tie in to the rest of the deviation.

Talking about World of Warcraft, in the nineties my son was one of the beta testers for the first wave of the game. He was able to beta test many games at the time.

Congratulations on getting through Basic! I come from a family with a lot of military experience. My niece is currently a commander in special forces for the Centers for Disease Control. One of my brothers retired after a combination of 29 years in the Navy, National Guard and the Army. During the Persian Gulf war he was called back up to serve in Germany (his specialty is acquisitions) and he was in his late forties! He said that as long as he stayed active he could be called back up. Of course, now he is in his late sixties. Two of my other brothers served in the Air Force and the Army during the Viet Nam era. My husband's sister served in the Navy. A nephew served nearly 10-years in the Navy and another was a pilot in the Navy now flying for Southwest. The list goes on.

I do love dragons and dinosaurs and the like. My brother sculpts full-size replicas then makes casts of them to make copies for museums and displays. He has a display of many of them in the basement of his clubhouse at his golf course and it is so much fun to walk around and look at them!

My daughter, `Arete-Eirene-Phile is an Ancient Greek and Latin scholar. I'll have to tell her that you'll be part of the linguistic department of the Army!

Very carefully  ~ it is a non-competitive entry. There is a rule in "painting" too much and I fear I may have used the brushes a bit too much, so I just made a general entry. I had more "pets" I wanted to add but ran out of time :giggle:

It's really not all that huge. Also she is quite clever. She lives in half of the castle and the other half is available to be toured for a small fee. I'll try to remember to post them tomorrow.
