When Tina was here we put up the Christmas Tree and a good part of the Village. Maybe 1/3 of the decorations managed to get put out and none of the outside lights. The weather didn't cooperate and Steve does NOT like to decorate. I'll be happy with what is up. Tina took some great pictures of the decorations.

One of Linda's (and Tina's by default) kitties passed away. He couldn't breath and when taken to the vet it was discovered his lungs were full of liquid. This came as quite a shock as he didn't appear to be ill until that day. May Gabby rest in peace:

In case you have been living in a cave for the last week, Groups went into Beta. #DisneyDreamers and #ohioDeviants have been converted and #disney-parkhoppers will send in a request once it has been updated. Will have to wait to convert =Holidays after it is updated once more. To take advantage of the less expensive cost for Group subscriptions for the next year am subbing the clubs prior to the request, which will convert to a full year of a Group sub. dA is currently subbing Groups (after conversion or new ones) for a "discount" of $60 for a one-year subscription. The alleged "regular" price will be $120.00. For a year. Eeek. Can I just say, "Eeek?" The $30 spent now will save money later, but it is highly doubtful I'll ever be able to purchase subs for Groups at a staggering cost of $120 a year. #automailxalchemy has been converted but is not subbed. Click on that club, then #DisneyDreamers, to view the difference between having and not having a Group subscription.

:iconchristmasplz:Have done some decorating for Christmas. Will get the pictures up when they are taken. I have some pictures of the Courthouse Lighting taken in downtown Newark to post when I get to them. The night was frickin' cold and my toesies were numb but the discomfort was worth it to get some decent pics.

The Christmas Tree I posted was from two years ago. Didn't put up a tree last year but got a new, smaller tree this year. The kitty just got "fixed" and declawed (front paws) but he is still charmed by the tree. Storm has pulled a few things off the tree and likes to chew on the tree tips. Some of the tips are the new Cashmere tips and he seems to think they are "real". At any rate, the decorating is slow and won't be as extensive as other years. I just don't have the energy to do a lot of decorating. Then, of course, there is the inevitable taking down of the decorations. Last year I didn't get them down until February as I was gone for several weeks then came home fatigued. I am keeping that in mind this year as I drag things out of storage! :giggle:

Had fun on Black Friday going to the Courthouse Lighting in downtown Newark (Nerk), Ohio. Found a wonderful coffeeshop and gift shop where we stayed warm and purchased cool OSU merchandise on sale! My pictures didn't really turn out, so we're going back over this week before I return home to have a second crack at the pics. My thumb screwed up my camera settings without me realizing it. I swear, I am SO cluless when it comes to picture taking. Here are two of Tina's Pictures:

Will be out-of-town for a few days visiting family in central Ohio and staying with Tina and Auntie Linda. There will be food, shopping and work over the next few days, as well as scouting out a Christmas Tree that will work well for Linda's Florida room. Should be fun, as well as crazy, since we'll be out and about on ~ gasp! :wow: ~ Black Friday! Traffic from hell!

2009 Banner


There is a store in Hermitage, PA called Kraynak's. It is a huge nursery and for the holidays they not only have a tremendous amount of gorgeous decorations for the season but Christmas trees galore, both live and artificial. There is a section of the store that is a separate "room" that is nearly the length of the store and for holidays, spring or winter, there is an amazing display with an array of decorations from trees to lawn displays. Lights, action, details galore, it is a treat for any family or any person of any age. See a video of the display here:

In person that view is staggering to behold. Keeping this in mind, I used to have to BRIBE Tina to go to Kraynak's each year. Why? She is allergic to pine trees and she gets a bit sick just being there for an hour.

When Tina was nearly two-years old she got sick at Christmas for the second year in a row. Taking her to a specialist he asked if we had a "real" tree? I said, um, yeah... and he said that Tina was allergic to the pine sap. On returning home, we took down the tree and Steve's mom gave us her artificial tree to use in its place. Ever since I have had an artificial tree. I love to decorate a tree, set up a village, put up lights outside and put out a zillion decorations. This year I am looking for a fiber-optic tree large enough to decorate. My previous tree (the one I posted in my gallery recently) is bent and has always been bent :confused:. The cats get up inside it and cart off decorations. I had a set of "The Three Kings" I made with yarn and one of the cats adored one of the Kings. No matter where I put it he could get it. I finally gave up and let him have it. With a new kitten it will be difficult to decorate this year and keep him out of the decorations. Thought I would scale down the decorations this year and look for the fiber optic tree thinking it will be smaller than what I am used to and tighter, making it more difficult for the cats to crawl up inside. I really need to go to Kraynak's to see what they have. I won't have to bribe Tina to go this year since she won't be around. We haven't been to Kraynak's in years and I'm itching to go.

In case you're wondering, the "bribe" was letting her pick out a jigsaw puzzle!
