I have a question: Is the Summer Weather South of the Equator Having Unusually HOT Weather??
It is December 13th... Winter... and the air conditioner is on. Went outside without a sweater in a summer top. Went out on the porch in the middle of the night in a lightweight nightie and wasn't cold. Just weird.
El Niño could be the reason. According to NOAA the system in the Gulf of Mexico can affect weather hundreds of miles away:
Sea surface temperature in the equatorial Pacific Ocean (above). El Niño is characterized by unusually warm temperatures and La Niña by unusually cool temperatures in the equatorial Pacific. Anomalies represent deviations from normal temperature values, with unusually warm temperatures and unusually cold anomalies respectively.
When I was a little girl when I learned that seasons were reversed from each other between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, I wondered if those celebrating Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere had calendars with Santa on the beach instead of trudging through the snow :bademoticon:

At any rate, snow or no snow, the holidays are upon us and I'm wishing you all a Happy December Holiday or any sort!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, A Blessed Mawild Un Nabi, A Most Wondrous Kwanzaa, A Pleasant Winter Solstice, A Grateful Boxing Day, A Wonderful Festivus (for the rest of us), And a Very Yummy Chocolate Day (wait, what? Isn't EVERY DAY Chocolate Day???)!
And, of Course, Happy New Year!
